diy: happy valentine’s day!

Today’s post is a double whammy so prepare yourselves!! :)

Yesterday, I took the day off because I was becoming very cranky with work and was going to lose it if I got one more email needed it. It was Mental Mending Monday for me, which consisted of hitting up Home Goods for retail therapy, lounging on the sofa watching HGTV for creative inspiration, and stopping by my hubby’s work for a Valentine’s surprise. It was a good day! :) To top it off, hubby and I made Valentine’s Day cookies for our work, inspired by the “I  NY” sign. Yummy!

Since love is in the air, I also made another Valentine’s Day card! I’ve had these opaque Martha Stewart confetti hearts for over four years now and have not found any use for it aside from confetti but I think I found purpose for them! It’s a very simple card but I love it because it’s whimsical and I’ve never made something so dimensional like this before!

diy: happy 19 or 61 birthday card

My dad’s birthday is today and since I can’t go home to celebrate, I sent him a fun birthday card so he feels loved and special! What better way to make him think he’s a young man! You see, my dad is turning 61 but more often than not, he still acts like a kid (in a good way)! In fact, he’s addicted to Fruit Ninja on our Kinect system and can be found playing tennis every Saturday and Sunday!

The fun part of this card is that the number circle card spins. I embossed the numbers on top of the yellow cardstock, poked a small hole in the center of the black cardstock, inserted a mini brad through the hole, and taped the two circles together to conceal the brad. Happy 19 dad! ;)

diy: valentines day card

Whale you be my valentine??

I saw this cute whale stamp at Michaels and HAD to get it. I HAD TO. You know what I mean, right?? The urge of snatching up the goods and putting it in your shopping basket/cart in a split second?! This is one of my favorite cards so whoever gets it will be lucky! Not only is the whale uber cute but I got to use Copic markers for the first time!!! :)

Does this stamp seem a little weird? I didn’t think about it until I got home…is the whale in love because it’s about to eat the little fish?

diy: embossed birthday card

Embossing is a great way to add texture to a handmade card. I made the card below using the cute little green cuttlebug machine! The embossing folders come in a set of four and because I couldn’t decide which one to use, I showcased them all in one card! :)
