diy: bento box + tissue paper

I have a German-speaking Colombian friend who loves everything and anything Japanese. Yes, you read that right…she’s a multi-cultural gal!  So, for her birthday, I gave her a bento box because a few months ago, she was talking about how much she wanted one. But I didn’t want to give her an empty one…how sad would that look!  So, it was time to get creative!

Along with the Japanese bento box, I bought little Japanese/Asian goodies, a monogram stamp, and a travel size bubble bath gel, all of which are wrapped in tissue paper shaped into bento food items. I marked little black dots on the rice so that it would look like black sesame seeds. The cherry tomatoes, carrot slices, and sushi were created using scrapbook paper.

It was really easy and fun to make the tissue paper food. And, best of all, my birthday friend really really liked it! :)
